Odisha Doctor Violates Quarantine Rule After Returning From Other State
Angul: A doctor here has allegedly violated quarantine rules by joining duty soon after returning to Odisha from outside the state.
As per reports, locals complained that Dr Nanda Kishore Sahoo, who works in the pediatrics department at the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in Angul, had gone on a three-month leave to his native place outside the state.
Following his return to Odisha, Dr Sahoo didn’t observe the mandatory quarantine period of 14 days and started checking patients from the very next day, they alleged.
An aggrieved Angul resident said, “If an educated doctor is violating quarantine rules, what should we expect from uneducated people? By doing this, he is putting others’ lives in danger.”
However, Dr Sahoo denied the charges of violating quaratine rules.
Meanwhile, ADMO Shyam Prasad Behera said that Dr Sahoo had joined duty on Wednesday.
“As the CDMO of the DHH is on leave, we can’t take any decision whether Dr Sahoo could join his duty or he should be sent to the quarantine centre,” he added.
On his part, CDMO Pratap Behera clarified, “Dr Sahoo has been asked to stay in the quarantine centre for 14 days. He will resume work after the completion of the quarantine period.”
