Bhubaneswar: The East Coast Railway (ECoR) is operating 367 special trains as part of efforts to effectively manage heavy rush of passengers during the festive season.

The ECoR said in a statement on Tuesday that it has also ramped up operations to ensure safe, smooth, and comfortable travel for passengers during the ongoing festive season.

General Manager Parmeshwar Funkwal personally reviewed and monitored the elaborate arrangements from the 24-hour War Room set up at ECoR Headquarters in Bhubaneswar.
With passenger traffic witnessing a sharp surge, ECoR has implemented extensive measures across all its divisions for crowd management, enhanced security, and real-time coordination.

To facilitate hassle-free travel, Indian Railways is operating over 12,000 special trains nationwide, out of which East Coast Railway is running 367 special trains. Since October 1, 2025, ECoR has already operated 76 special trains, carrying more than 70,000 passengers. Based on booking trends and passenger demand, the zone is introducing additional services wherever necessary, ensuring timely response through real-time ticket monitoring.

For effective crowd management, Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel have been deployed at all major stations. Separate entry and exit routes have been designated to streamline passenger flow and prevent congestion.

Security has been further strengthened with the deployment of dog squads, volunteers, and surveillance teams to prevent the carrying of inflammable materials, liquor, and other prohibited items. Over 900 CCTV cameras installed across the Khurda Road, Waltair, and Sambalpur Divisions are being monitored round-the-clock from the central control room to enable swift response and corrective action when required.

More than 50,000 dedicated railway employees across the zone are working relentlessly to ensure that festive travel remains safe, comfortable, and punctual for all passengers.
