Bhubaneswar: The State Election Commission (SEC) of Odisha has extended the deadline for the ongoing door-to-door survey in Bhubaneswar, Kataka.
In a letter addressed to the Commissioners of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Kataka Municipal Corporation, the SEC informed that the State Election Commissioner has approved an extension of 15 days beyond the original deadline of November 7, 2026.
As per the communication, the survey in the two municipal corporations will now continue till November 22.
The Commission has directed the commissioners of BMC and KMC to ensure that the survey is completed accurately within the revised deadline. It has also emphasised the need for proper monitoring mechanisms and regular supervision to ensure the smooth conduct of the exercise.
The civic bodies have been instructed to closely monitor the progress of the survey and ensure that all necessary work is completed within the extended period. The extension is expected to provide additional time to the field-level teams to complete the exercise across the two municipal corporation areas.
This apart, the Commission has also granted a further extension for Rayagada and Nabarangpur districts in view of the adverse impact of Cyclones “Arnab” and “Murasu”. Heavy rainfall and other weather-related disruptions in the aftermath of the cyclones had severely hampered survey work in the two districts, making it difficult to meet the earlier deadline of November 7.
Taking into account the difficulties faced by field-level functionaries and the need for accurate and comprehensive coverage of all eligible households, the Commission has extended the survey deadline in both Rayagada and Nabarangpur districts till November 14, 2026.
The Collectors of Rayagada and Nabarangpur have been asked to issue necessary instructions to all concerned officials to intensify survey activities and complete the work within the revised timeline.
The Commission clarified that this extension applies only to the two districts, while all other instructions related to the Door-to-Door Survey remain unchanged.
