Odisha EOW Arrests Bihar IT Graduate For Job Fraud
Bhubaneswar: In yet another breakthrough, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Odisha police arrested an IT graduate from Siwan distrit of Bihar for running a job fraud racket spread over 17 states to dupe youths on the promise of jobs.
The accused identified as Amit Kumar Singh, a native of Kasdeora under Maharajganj area of Siwan district, was produced before the ACJM-6 Court, Siwan, and brought on the transit remand. He will be produced before the SDJM Court in Bhubaneswar, an EOW release said on Friday.
The accused is an IT graduate and was running a website i.e. www.grks.org in the name of “Gramin Rojgar Kalyan Sansthan”. He along with others used to float fake advertisements for jobs. He was also giving fake advertisements in social media like facebook, apart from providing the technical support to a job racket.
The racket has been operational in 17 states including Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Uttarakhand, Rajsthan Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana West Bengal, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala Karnataka, Jharkhand, Punjab, Haryana and Gujarat.
“Gramin Rojgar Kalyan Sansthan” has its offices in New Delhi, Mumbai, Bhopal and Dehradun.
He was one of the scamsters who used to invite applications for various jobs by giving advertisements in national dallies and local newspapers. It was learnt that the racket has duped lakhs of rupees from unemployed youths across the nation since 2020. The scamsters were indulging in money laundering of the ill-gotten money through shell companies, the release added.
