Bhubaneswar: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) on Tuesday arrested Director of Shreya Infrastructures Services Pvt Ltd Seema Nayak from Aska in Odisha’s Ganjam in connection with a Rs 7.31 crore real estate scam.

According to an EOW release, she was arrested on the basis of a complaint lodged by one Debadutta Rautray.

He had accused Himanshu Sekhar Nayak of the firm of cheating and fraud in collusion with MD of Real Value Developers & Builders Pvt Ltd Rama Chandra Patra.

Investigation revealed that Nayak and his wife Seema had lured 100 customers into booking studio apartments at a cost of Rs. 9.50 lakh per unit in their then launched project, Shreekshetra Kalinga Kutira at Sipasarubali in Puri.

The customers were to be hand over possession of respective flats within 3 years from the date of the agreement. However, the duo left the locality after misappropriating the collected amount.

Patra had provided land to the firm on a General Power of Attorney (GPA). However, after receiving a substantial amount towards the land cost, he in connivance with accused Nayak and others had cancelled the GPA.

The investigation further revealed that 71 intending buyers had invested Rs. 7.31 crore for buying flats/studio apartment.

Seema was actively managing the business of the firm and was also operating the bank accounts. “It has been ascertained that a major portion of the public deposit was diverted to her personal accounts in different banks and misappropriated by her,” the release said.

Nayak and another director of the company, Gati Krushna Dash, and Patra were earlier arrested in this connection.
