Odisha Fights Coronavirus: Bhubaneswar Civic Body Asks Shops To Stop Selling Paan, Gutkha & Tea
Bhubaneswar: Stepping up its fight against the coronavirus, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Saturday directed all shops to immediately stop selling paan (betel), gutkha (which are usually tobacco-laced intoxicants) and tea.
In a notification, the BMC said as part of its drive to close shops dealing with non-essential items, paan and OMFED outlets can only sell milk and related products and should forthwith stop selling paan, gutkha and tea.
The civic body also ordered for closure of garment shops, ice cream parlours and instructed OPOLFED shops not to sell any cooked food. It further asked fruit juice centres to only sell fruits.
