The department specially praised female doctors and nurses for their efforts in screening and treating suspected COVID-19 cases and infected patients at hospitals.

Apart from this, the ANM, AWW and ASHA workers are conducting a door-to-door survey to check the health of the people. The self-help groups (SHGs) are preparing masks for the safety of the people while mothers and sisters are maintaining policing at home and keeping the family members at home with strict adherence to social distancing guidelines.

It also said that the National Health Mission (NHM) is coordinating the surveillance, samples collection and testing while the Odisha State Medical Corporation Limited (OSMCL) is procuring drugs, sanitizers, equipment and all protective gears for healthcare personnel.

Stating that the women scientists at the Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC), AIIMS and SCB Medical College and Hospital are also conducting research for the preventive measures against the virus, the department said that to increase the frequency in the diagnosis, the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) is going to commence the COVID testing soon.

“Besides, the testing kits procured by the state government will enable the conduct the test of more samples per day, it said, adding that adequate stock of sanitizers, masks and other protective gears have been earmarked for all government hospitals.” it added.
