Odisha Fights COVID-19: Govt ITI Cuttack Develops Walk-In Kiosks For Sample Collection

Cuttack: A week after Kerala emulated South Korea with WISK kiosks, students and teachers of Cuttack ITI have come up with their version of a walk-in sample collection kiosk to collect samples of people with COVID-19 symptoms.

According to reports, it is a mobile cubical cabin with a sealed glass front and healthcare professionals can collect samples from outside through the built-in gloves on the front.

“Swab can be collected without direct exposure and contact. After swab collection, the gloves can be sanitised from outside. Besides, the kiosk will reduce the need for more PPE kits and we will be able to test more in less time,” said Principal HK Mohanty.

COVID-19 virus is primarily transmitted between people through respiratory droplets and contact routes.

With the Odisha government trying to ramp-up its testing capacity, the facility will prove beneficial in this direction, he added.
