Odisha Forest Officer’s Death: Deceased’s Wife, DFO & Cook Booked For Murder
Paralakhemundi: Police on Thursday began an investigation into the death of Assistant Conservator of Forest (ACF) Soumya Ranjan Mohapatra on the basis of a complaint by the deceased’s father, Abhiram Mohapatra, on Wednesday
Police registered a case of murder against the ACF’s wife, Bidya Bharati Panda, a cook working at the ACF’s house and DFO (Paralakhemundi) Sangram Keshari Behera.
In his police complaint, Abhiram had claimed that the three were present in the house on the night when his son was burnt.
He alleged that his daughter-in-law had an extra-marital relationship with the DFO and the latter used to visit the official residence of his son.

Abhiramfurther said a security guard who was also working as a cook in his son’s house was privy to the affair. “To ensure that they could meet regularly, my son was deliberately given night duty at his office. My son had told this to me earlier,” Abhiram told police.
He also said his son had started receiving threat calls after he discovered the illicit relationship between his wife and the DFO. Fearing for his life, he wanted to get transferred to Baripada.
The ACF, who had sustained severe burn injuries at his residence on the night of July 12, died while undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Cuttack the next morning .
