Bhubaneswar: Acting on the direction of the Ministry of Education to step up measures to stop school dropouts, the Odisha government has formulated an action plan.
The School and Mass Education Department has directed the District Education Officers (DEOs) and the District Project Coordinators (DPCs) to prepare a database of the children of 6-18 years of age who have not gone to the school and those who have left the school mid-way.
The officials have been asked to carry out a door-to-door survey. It has been decided to form a team under the Cluster Resource Centre Coordinators (CRCCs) comprising the school teachers, members of the Village Education Committee and the self-help groups (SHGs) to conduct the survey.
The database to be prepared by the school teachers, Block Resource Centre Coordinators (BRCCs) and Cluster Resource Centre Coordinators (CRCCs) as per the guidelines of the Department of School Education & Literacy of the Education Ministry will be updated at regular intervals.
After the compilation of the data is done at the CRCC level, the soft copy of the data will be uploaded on the official portal of the Block Education Officers (BEOs) at their office. To upload the data on the e-Governance portal of the Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA) (http://osepa.odisha.gov.in), the School and Mass Education Department will provide a link to the BEO.
The entire process will be completed by May 15.
