Cuttack: The remand of gangster Sheikh Hyder, who was arrested from Telangana on Thursday after slipping out of SCB Medical College and Hospital here on April 10, has been put on hold after he tested positive for COVID-19.
“He was shifted to an isolation ward in Choudwar jail after the result of the RT-PCR test was found to be positive,” informed Cuttack DCP Prateek Singh.
On Friday, the court of Judicial Magistrate (First Class) had allowed police to take him on seven-day and the Malgodown police were to bring Hyder from the Circle Jail at 7 am on Saturday for interrogation on his escape.
The gangster was brought to Bhubaneswar from Hyderabad on Friday morning.
According to sources, police will reapply for his remand once his isolation period gets over.
