Paradip: A Model Anganwadi Centre was inaugurated on Tuesday in Musadia village, Paradeep, Odisha. The upgraded centre has play equipment, toilets, water filters for safe drinking water, essential furniture, provision of Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials, preschool education kits and nutri-gardens.
The Model Anganwadi Centre has been created by ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India), as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project ‘Padhega Bharat’. The initiative focuses on a holistic approach to enhance the learning environment for children and strengthen the capabilities of ICDS (Integrated Child Development Services) functionaries. Through hands-on training sessions and capacity-building programs, frontline workers, including ASHAs, Anganwadi workers and Anganwadi helpers will receive guidance on nutrition and childcare practices. The overarching objective is to equip frontline workers with the necessary skills and motivation to effectively support child development and maternal well-being.
The upgraded Anganwadi Centres will provide a conducive learning environment, promote interactive learning, boost enrolment and attendance, strengthen hygiene practices, and ensure continued participation of both mothers and children.
AM/NS India, in collaboration with Humana People to People India (HPPI), is working to transform 25 existing Anganwadi centres in the Paradip region into Model Anganwadis. The company aims to create a more engaging and child-friendly atmosphere in Anganwadi centres by integrating smart learning tools and improving the overall infrastructure. The
In the initial phase, upgradation of two Anganwadi centers in Musadia and Singitali villages have been completed. This will be followed by the enhancement of an additional 23 centres, benefiting over 500 students.
The Model Anganwadi Centre was inaugurated by Bishnu Priya Sethi, District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO), Jagatsinghpur, in the presence of Rajashree Sahoo, Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), Kujang Block, Vikas Yadvendu, Head – CSR, AM/NS India, Sanjeev Bhatt, Development Director, HPPI and Debendra Rout, Sarpanch, Nuagarh Panchayat. More than 300 women, including Anganwadi workers, helpers and village locals were present at the occasion.
