Bhubaneswar: Odisha experienced considerable respite from the biting cold wave that swept the state over the last few days with slight rise in the night temperature on Wednesday morning.
As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Daringbadi in Kandhamal district was the coldest place in the state recording 8.5 degrees Celsius in the morning, followed closely by Phulbani, also in Kandhamal, at 9 degrees Celsius.
Angul recorded 10.6 degrees while the night temperature stood at 11 degrees Celsius in Bhawanipatna and Nabarangpur. Jharsuguda recorded 11.6 degrees Celsius and Koraput 12 degrees, while Rourkela registered 12.4 degrees Celsius.
Keonjhar and Sonepur recorded 13 degrees, with Bolangir at 13.2 degrees. Sundargarh and Rayagada followed with 13.4 degrees each, and Dhenkanal settled at 13.6 degrees. Malkangiri and Paralakhemundi recorded 14 degrees.
State capital Bhubaneswar received considerable respite from the cold spell as the night temperature rose to 15.2 degrees Celsius, up from 14.1 degree recorded the previous day.
Neighbouring Cuttack recorded 14.4 degrees Celsius, while the temperature in Titilagarh stood at 14.5 degrees, Sambalpur at 14.9 degrees and Bargarh at 15 degrees. Bhubaneswar touched 15.2 degrees, while Nayagarh recorded 15.3 degrees. Baripada, Hirakud, Deogarh and Nuapada stood at 15.4 degrees.
According to the IMD, the night temperature across Odisha is likely to rise by two to three degrees Celsius over the next three days. However, residents in interior, northern, and southern districts are likely to continue feeling the cold in the morning and night hours.
