Bhubaneswar: In view of the festive season, the Central government has released Rs 4,601 crore to Odisha as part of additional tax devolution, the Finance Ministry said in a statement.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for releasing the advance instalment of tax devolution.

“This timely support exemplifies the strength of Centre-State cooperation and will significantly enhance our capacity to accelerate development and welfare initiatives, particularly during the festive season,” he said.

The Government of Odisha remains committed to utilizing these funds efficiently and transparently, ensuring they benefit our people and contribute to the progress of the nation,” Majhi said in a post on X.

Notably, the Centre has disbursed a total of Rs 1,01,603 crore to various state governments as an additional allocation, supplementing the normal monthly devolution scheduled for October 10. The move comes ahead of the festive season, aimed at enabling states to accelerate capital spending and fund development and welfare-related initiatives.

State-wise Allocation: Uttar Pradesh: Rs 18,227 crore; Bihar: Rs 10,219 crore; Madhya Pradesh: Rs 7,976 crore; West Bengal: Rs 7,644 crore; Maharashtra: Rs 6,418 crore; Rajasthan: Rs 6,123 crore; Odisha: Rs 4,601 crore; Andhra Pradesh: Rs 4,112 crore; Tamil Nadu: Rs 4,144 crore; Karnataka: Rs 3,705 crore; Jharkhand: Rs 3,360 crore

Earlier, the Finance Ministry reported that Rs 4,28,544 crore had been transferred to states as their share of taxes during April–July, an increase of ₹61,914 crore from the previous year.
