Odisha Govt Against Reopen Religious Institutions Amid COVID-19 Pandemic
Cuttack: The Odisha government on Monday told the Orissa High Court that it was not possible to reopen the religious institutions in the state, considering the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic.
The state government, in an affidavit, told the court that as the sanctum sanctorum in most of the temples was narrow, there was a possibility of the spread of the virus as the devotees would come in physical contact with each other.
It was also not possible to deploy the police in all the temples in the state, the government added.
The court would hear the matter again in the next week.
