Odisha Govt Brings Down COVID Fee On Liquor: Know Revised Rate Here
Bhubaneswar: The Excise department on Thursday revised the ‘Special COVID Fee’ on alcoholic beverages that would bring down the hike on MRP on the products.
According to a release of the department, the revision of the ‘Special COVID Fee’ is done in such a way that MRP of various IMFL, FMFL, beer, wine and RTD brands is increased in the range of 15 per cent on the MRP instead of the present 50 percent.
The revision will come into effect from July 10. The revised MRP of the products is available on the website of Odisha State Beverage Corporation.
The department took the decision considering the MRP of liquor in other states and also to ensure that no non-duty paid liquor from outside the state enters Odisha due to the price difference, the release stated.
The state government had imposed the ‘Special COVID Fee’ on alcoholic beverages in May. The government allowed home delivery of alcohol by the licensees on May 24 and counter sale at ON and OFF shops on July 1.
