Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Wednesday announced hike in the remuneration of Junior Teachers (Schematic) working in elementary schools across the state under the Samagra Sikshya Scheme.

The monthly salary of Junior Teachers engaged in Primary and Upper Primacy schools under Samagra Sikshya Scheme has been raised from Rs 11,100 to Rs 16,000.
As per a resolution issued by the School and Mass Education Department dated February 12, the revised pay structure will be applicable to Junior Teachers (Schematic) engaged in both primary and upper primary schools in the state.
The enhancement in remuneration will take effect from the date of issuance of the resolution.
A decision regarding the salary hike was earlier approved by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi in January.
Official sources said as many as 13,740 Junior Teachers (Schematic) are now employed in the state. The state exchequer will incur an additional expenditure of Rs 89.15 crore from the budget to meet the salary hike.
In addition to the salary hike, the state’s contribution to the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) for teachers has also increased and it will now contribute Rs 1,950 to each teacher’s EPF account, up from the previous Rs 1,443.
