Odisha Govt Hikes Stipend Of House Surgeons At State Medical Colleges

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Saturday announced a hike in the monthly stipend of house surgeons at all government medical colleges and hospitals for a period of three years.

In a letter to the Director Medical Education and Training (DMET), the Deputy Secretary of Health and Family Welfare wrote that the monthly stipend of the house surgeons has been hiked from Rs 20,000 to Rs 28,000, with effect from January this year.

It may be mentioned that the house surgeons of SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack, MKCG Medical College and Hospital, Berhampur and Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), Burla, had resorted to an indefinite cease work from January 28 to demand a hike in their monthly stipend.
