Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has increased the monthly travel allowance of Agriculture Overseers in the state from Rs 450 to Rs 1500. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has approved a proposal in this regard.
Agriculture Overseers have to travel at least 20 days a month. They used to get Rs 300 per month for this purpose, which was increased to Rs 450 in 2023. However, the amount was not hiked thereafter even though the allowance of other government employees was increased.
The decision to increase the permanent travel allowance of Agriculture Overseers would encourage them to undertake more field visits and to provide better services to the public, a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said on Thursday.
At present, there are 1257 Agriculture Overseers in the state against a total of 1567 sanctioned posts, the statement added.
