Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is taking concrete steps to issue a formal notification on permission for sale of part plots this month to streamline the process of land transactions and ensure planned development of urban areas.
Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari told reporters on Friday that the process of according permission for part plot sales has reached its final stage.
He said the state government is now examining the matter closely and the notification is expected to be issued during this month itself.
While the primary subject comes under the jurisdiction of the Urban Development Department, the Revenue Department is coordinating and carefully examining the draft proposal, the Minister said.
The draft policy is being closely reviewed, while discussions are being held with all stakeholders to address all concerns and legal parameters. Talks with landowners, developers, and other stakeholders are already underway in an effort to prepare a balanced and inclusive framework to ensure transparency and accountability in the part plot sale mechanism, said Pujari.
After thorough examination and inter-departmental consultations, the government will issue an official gazette notification, he said, adding that the notification is expected to be issued this month itself.
Notably, landowners, buyers and real estate developers are keenly watching the government’s move on the issue of part plot sales — wherein large land holdings are divided and sold in smaller parcels. The proposed move is likely to streamline land transactions, resolve bottlenecks in urban expansion, and facilitate planned real estate development in urban areas.
