Odisha Govt Takes Action Against 9 Officers For Corruption
Bhubaneswar: As part of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s zero tolerance approach towards corruption, the Odisha government has taken stern action against nine more officers for their alleged involvement in corruption cases.
While the government has dismissed three officers, pension of six others have been held up permanently, according to an official release on Friday.
With this, the state government has taken stern action against 197 officers. They have been either dismissed from their jobs or given compulsory retirement or their pensions have been stopped for inefficiency or corrupt practices.
Of the nine officers punished recently, Shivaram Vishal, former Executive Officer of Cuttack District RWSS Division-II, has been convicted in a corruption case. His pension has been permanently stopped.
Similarly, the pension and gratuity of Gandaram Khamari, former BID (Retired OAS Officer) of Kalahandi block in Kalahandi district, has been permanently suspended after he was convicted in a corruption case.
In another case, Gokul Chandra Naik, former Assistant Agriculture Officer of Umerkot of Odisha’s Nabarangpur district, has been convicted in a corruption case and he has been dismissed from his job due to corruption and inefficiency.
Krishnachandra Goud, former Assistant Agriculture Officer of G Udayagiri, has been found guilty of corruption and his pension and gratuity have been permanently stopped.
The pension and gratuity of former Soil Conservation Officer of Malkangiri district Dasharathi Tripathi have been permanently stopped after he was found guilty in a corruption case.
Despite being a government official, Upendrabhanj Naik, a former junior engineer of Sohela RWSS in Bargarh district, also failed to maintain honesty and integrity in his work. He also lacked manners. Therefore, action has been taken against him and he was dismissed from service.
In a similar case, Sushil Kumar Meher, a former auditor of Sundargarh District Local Fund Audit Department, has been found guilty in a corruption case and has been dismissed from service on charges of corruption and inefficiency.
The pension and gratuity of the former Social Education Officer of Mayurbhanj Udala, Anand Chandra Naik, have been permanently stopped due to his conviction in a corruption case.
Former DMSN Superintendent of Chandpur in Nayagarh district Surendra Nathpati has been convicted in a corruption case and his pension has also been permanently stopped.
