Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is all set to roll out the National Digital Health Mission (NDHM) to enable patients to access their medical records in one account.
Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling said the initiative is aimed at revolutionising healthcare in the state by creating a unified digital platform for medical data. Patients need not carry so many prescriptions with them while consulting doctors for treatment at various hospitals, he said.
Stating that the new system will introduce the Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) card under the supervision of the National Health Authority (NHA), he told reporters that people can register their health information through these cards.
Scanning the QR code on the card will instantly provide access to a patient’s medical history, including past illnesses and treatments.
The NDHM ensures the digital storage and retrieval of medical data, making healthcare more accessible and efficient. Individuals can apply for the ABHA card online, and it will be integrated with the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
The state government has set a target to distribute these cards to the beneficiaries by February 2025, Mahaling added.
