Odisha Govt To Open COVID Care Centre In MKCG Hospital At Berhampur

Bhubaneswar: With the number of COVID-19 patients getting new additions every day in Ganjam, the state government has decided to strengthen the treatment facilities in the district.

At a meeting held under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Pradipta Mohapatra at the Lokseva Bhavan, here on Saturday, it has been decided to convert the paediatric ward of the MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur into a 100-bed COVID Care Centre. Besides, another 100-bed COVID Care Centre will come up at Bidyutpur.

While the MKCG COVID Care Centre will function under the supervision of the district collector, the government has decided to appoint an additional superintendent for the medical college for COVID-19 management.

The district has reported 5280 COVID-19 positive cases while 52 have succumbed to the disease. The number of active cases stands at 1671.
