Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government will provide financial assistance to the families of the deceased COVID patients as per the directive of the Supreme Court.
This was stated by Director, Medical Education and Training (DMET) CBK Mohanty while speaking to the media, here on Tuesday.
He said as per the directive of the Supreme Court, financial assistance of Rs 50,000 will be provided, if the patient has died within a month of contracting the virus. Apart from this, any COVID patient, who has committed suicide, and those who have died in accidents are also entitled to financial assistance.
“To implement the order of the apex court, the state government will issue a special standard operating procedure (SOP),” the director said.
He further said for the re-audit of the COVID-related deaths, a district-level committee will be formed very soon.
