Harassment Slur On Playback Singer Sourin Bhatt; Case Filed At Mahila Station In Odisha’s Cuttack
Cuttack: Popular playback singer Sourin Bhatt has landed in a soup with a woman from Odisha accusing him of exploiting her, both physically and mentally, and reneging on the promise to marry her.
The complainant, who reportedly works in a private bank, had lodged a complaint with the Jagatpur police, which was then referred to Mahila Police station here. A case has been registered under Sections 376 (sexual assault), 493 (cohabitation caused by a man deceitfully inducing a belief of lawful marriage), 341 (wrongfully restrains), 294 (obscene acts and songs), 417 (cheating) and 506 (threat to cause death or grievous hurt). Police have also recorded the statement of the woman, sources said.
The sources further said that the woman had come in contact with the playback singer about three years ago and their families were aware of the relationship. Bhatt also allegedly took Rs 10 lakh from her. He also promised to give her a break as a singer.
The complainant, however, refused to divulge any details to the media.
Bhatt resides in Mumbai. He was recently in news for his latest single titled ‘Prema Dhun’.
This has come a few days after casting couch allegations rattled Odia film industry and actress Prakruti Mishra filed a complaint against film producer Sanjay Nayak aka Tutu Nayak at Dada Bhai Naroji Nagar Police Station in Andheri West area in Mumbai.
