Bhubaneswar: Ahead of Rath Yatra, the Odisha government on Thursday announced a hike in the cessation benefit for its employees appointed on ad hoc basis.
Previously, these employees were entitled to a one-time payment of Rs 1.5 lakh upon cessation of service. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has approved a proposal to increase this amount to Rs 2.5 lakh, a CMO release said.
It further stated that they will receive a one-time cessation benefit of Rs 2.5 lakh upon termination of service. The ad-hoc employees will be entitled to this benefit if they are regularised but have not completed five years of service. Those who have served more than five years in a regular position will receive a minimum gratuity of Rs 2.5 lakh upon retirement.
“Additionally, it has been decided that this one-time gratuity amount will increase by 10% every two years. No approval from the Finance Department will be required for this increase, and departments can independently implement the hike every two years,” it added.
