Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has ordered an inquiry into alleged use of a vehicle by an IAS probationer in Kalahandi with board and amber light.
“It has come to notice that the IAS probationer of your district is using a vehicle fitted with the board ‘IAS Probationer’ along with amber light. It is not known under which circumstances, the IAS probationer is using such facilities,” Additional Secretary in the General Administration Department, Manoj Mohanty, said in a letter to Kalahandi Collector Sachin Pawar.
The Collector has been asked to furnish a report on the matter to the department at the earliest.
The move came after a photo of the vehicle with the display board and amber light went viral on social media.
According to rules, amber lights are reserved for vehicles used in emergencies, disaster management, and other specified situations and not for general use by the All-India Service Officers.
