Five Arrested in Pangolin Smuggling Case in Ganjam
Ganjam: Police rescued a Pangolin (an African and Asian mammal) and arrested five persons including two women for smuggling at Gunupur new bus stand in Ganjam on Sunday. The accused persons belong to Palasa area of Andhra Pradesh. On being informed, a joint team of police and forest officials conducted a raid at the new bus stand and found a Pangolin in their possession.
Minor Girl Shot Dead Over ‘Love Affair’ in Balasore
Balasore: A 14-year-old girl was allegedly murdered on Saturday night over a suspected love affair. The incident took place under Sahadevkhunta police limits of Balasore district. The deceased has been identified as Neha Khatun, a Class-IX student. According to sources, the minor girl had eloped with a youth of Arada Bazar Masjid Lane before eight days. Her family members were informed about her death at around 11.30 pm on Saturday. Her family members reached the spot and informed the police. On being informed, Sahadevkhunta police rushed to the spot and seized the body. The police detained the victim’s boyfriend Sahabad, and his father and sent the body for post-mortem.
Tension Erupts at Balasore Hospital After Patient’s Death
Balasore: Tension prevailed at Balasore Medical College and Hospital here on Sunday after a patient died due to alleged medical negligence. The family members of the deceased alleged that the patient died after being administered a wrong injection. According to sources, the patient, Madhusudan Pradhan of Dahapada village under Sahadevkhunta police limits was admitted to the hospital due to chest pain on Saturday night. The doctor administered an injection to Pradhan, following which he died. Following this, irate relatives and villagers ransacked the hospital and lodged a complaint against the hospital authorities. Police force has been deployed at the hospital to avoid any untoward incident.
