Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday announced a hike in the daily allowance for Civil Defence Volunteers and duty call-up allowance for Home Guards.

According to a CMO release, the daily duty allowance for Civil Defence Volunteers has been increased from Rs 31 to Rs 150. Similarly, the daily training allowance has been raised from Rs 28 to Rs 140. This hike will be effective retroactively from May 1, 2025.

There are fewer than 700 Civil Defence Volunteers in Odisha.

The Chief Minister expressed hope that this decision will lead to an increase in the number of Civil Defence Volunteers in the state.

Additionally, the duty call-up allowance for Home Guards has been increased from Rs 612 to Rs 623, effective retroactively from January 1, 2025, the release added.
