Odisha Loses Another Journalist To COVID-19

Bhubaneswar: Journalist Subrat Jena succumbed to COVID-19 complications here on Thursday.

He was undergoing treatment at SUM COVID Hospital for the last few days.

Odisha has lost over 30 journalists to COVID-19 during its second wave this year.

Earlier this month, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced financial compensation of Rs 15 lakh each to kin of 17 working journalists, who had succumbed to COVID-19 in Odisha.

On May 2, the CM had accorded the COVID warrior status to journalists in the state. There are 6,944 working journalists in Odisha. They are being covered under Gopabandhu Sambadika Swasthya Bima Yojana and getting health insurance cover of Rs 2 lakh each.
