Rayagada: A 70-year-old man has become an inspiration for others by planting hundreds of tress and creating an artificial forest at Muniguda in Rayagada district.
Meet Budhhia Sethi, who created the artificial forest over a period of 40 years.
According to sources, Budhhia, who stays with his wife Sushila at Muniguda, gets Rs 500 as old age pension and 10 kg rice per month from the local panchayat office.
Notwithstanding his meagre resources, Budhhia has managed to bring about a “green revolution” in the area by planting trees.
Inspired by his efforts, locals have demanded that the Odisha government help Budhhia financially and recognise his effort for making the man-made forest, informed Rayagada-based lawyer and social worker Jayashri Mohapatra.
Notably, the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic has made people realize the importance of oxygen and the need to plant trees.
