Bhubaneswar: The lure of hefty returns in commodity trading cost a senior executive of a private company in Odisha’s Paradip Rs 72.6 lakh.
The 53-year-old lodged a complaint in this connection with the cyber police station of Crime Branch on Tuesday.
According to the complainant, a woman contacted him on WhatsApp on March 22 by identifying herself as Rika Lim from Kuala Lumpur and persuaded him to invest in commodity trading. Following this, he registered himself with the trading website shared by the woman and earned Rs 950 on an initial investment of Rs 25,000. He subsequently invested Rs 72.6 lakh between March 31 and May 23 but got zero profit. When he asked for a refund, the woman changed her number and became incommunicado, he alleged.
