Brahmapur: More than week after he went missing, a first-year MBBS student of MKCG Medical College and Hospital has been rescued from Tiring police station limits in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district.
Sagar Sahoo, who hails from Jajpur district and had been missing since August 31, was travelling on a bus from Jharkhand side when police rescued him.
Sagar used the bus conductor’s mobile phone to contact his family. Police acted swiftly after being informed about Sagar’s whereabouts, and tracked him successfully.
After Sagar had gone missing, authorities at MKCG Medical College and Hospital lodged a complaint with Baidyanathpur police in Brahmapur after efforts to trace the student didn’t yield any result.
Police launched an investigation and began tracking Sagar’s movements. Sagar’s mobile phone was recovered from an area near Brahmapur railway station, which provided an important lead in the case.
On receiving information on Sagar, especially the input from his family, Brahmapur police coordinated with authorities in Mayurbhanj and succeeded in locating him on a bus.
The Kuakhia police team went to Tiring police station to bring Sagar back, bringing relief and joy to Sagar’s family and the MKCG authorities.
The reason behind Sagar’s disappearance is expected to be established after police record his statement over his disappearance and movements since August 31.
