Bhubaneswar: More than 10 lakh migrant workers returned to Odisha during the lockdown imposed for COVID-19 pandemic, according to Labour Minister Susanta Singh.
Giving the exact number of the labourers who returned during the period, the minister said in the State Assembly on Tuesday that the Labour Directorate has prepared a list of 10,07,330 migrant workers who came back for pandemic. He was replying to a question of BJP MLA Mukesh Mahaling.
The minister further said the Directorate contacted 1,00,535 workers of the list from Balangir, Bargarh, Kalahandi and Nuapada districts.
While 3509 workers have already gone back to other states for livelihood, 62,286 workers are yet to return, he added.
