Bhubaneswar: Asserting that Odisha is now witnessing ‘reverse migration,’ Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday claimed that young people who had earlier travelled to other states for jobs are coming back amid growing opportunities in the state.
Speaking at a Nijukti Mela Bhubaneswar, the Chief Minister said process of creating employment opportunities has been intensified in the state through industrial development. The state government is taking concrete measures to ensure that youngsters are able to get jobs within Odisha.
Claiming that people earlier migrated elsewhere for jobs due to lack of industrial infrastructure, Majhi said the situation has changed and people are returning from other states as Odisha is witnessing reverse migration.
Stressing that the government has been creating new employment opportunities with a focus on bringing the youth into the workforce, the Chief Minister said the process of recruitment and employment generation has already begun and would be expanded further.
The government plans to promote industrial development in every district of Odisha, which would create more local employment opportunities and reduce the need for people to migrate outside the state for work, he said, adding that the aim is to empower and bring the youth forward.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister distributed appointment letters to 1,326 candidates selected for various posts across nine state government departments.
The government has been emphasising employment generation through both public recruitment and industrial investment, with the objective of providing more opportunities for Odisha’s youth within the state.
Expansion of industries and employment opportunities would not only help strengthen the economy but also enable the youth to build their careers without having to leave the state.
