Bhubaneswar: A proposal to reschedule summer vacation for educational institutions across Odisha, in view of the soaring temperatures, has been sent to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari informed on Thursday.
“We had a detailed discussion with the minister and secretary of the School and Mass Education department in the presence of the Special Relief Commissioner. I also held a meeting with the Chief Secretary. We have consulted all stakeholders. The mercury has soared past 44°C in Jharsuguda, the whole state is boiling now, which is why we have proposed to prepone the summer vacation for schools,” Pujari told reporters.
He said Anganwadi centres will also be closed with a directive to shift to door-to-door ration supply. “The CMO and SRC will take a decision in this regard in a day or two,” he added.
