Bhubaneswar: Amid growing tension between India and Pakistan, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday asserted that all necessary steps have been taken to protect vital installations in the state.
Noting that the Centre is closely monitoring the situation, particularly in the coastal areas and places of strategic significance in Odisha.
Establishments like the Integrated Test Range (ITR) and PXE of the DRDO located at Chandipur in Balasore district could be potential targets in case of hostilities.
While the Central government is prepared to deal with any challenge, concrete steps have been taken to enhance security at key locations after thorough assessment of potential threats, the CM said.
Another round of high-level meeting is being held to reinforce security measures, he said.
Majhi added that strict security checks will be implemented, and measures are being taken to seal sensitive areas.
Arrangements are also being made to bring back Odia residents currently outside the state. A round-the-clock help desk has been set up at the Office of the Resident Commissioner in New Delhi to assist those in need.
Notably, several Odia students studying in Jammu are being sent to Delhi as a precautionary measure. The Chief Minister said both the state and central governments are closely monitoring the developments and continuously reviewing the situation.
