Odisha-Origin Woman Fielded By Liberal Democrats In Upcoming Britain Election

Bhubaneswar: A woman, who hailed from Odisha, is contesting the upcoming elections in Britain. Sasmita Rajhansha, a social worker and entrepreneur, has been residing in Bath’s Oldfield Park area for over the last 20 years.

Sasmita said the Liberal Democrats have nominated her to contest for the post of councilor in the city of Bath in the coming polls. “I am extremely happy that they have reposed faith in me and nominated me for the important position,” she said.

Stating that she has been engaged in a host of activities including social work, Sasmita said she is well acquainted with the issues faced by local residents and strives to seek resolutions.

She has done voluntary service for Dorothy House Hospice for over a decade and actively helped the local community during the pandemic. She provided free hot food to NHS staff and the needy during COVID-19 crisis.

Sasmita raises funds for Cancer Research UK and other charities by running marathons and organising events.

She is a key founder member of Shree Jagannatha Temple UK & Bath Hindu Community. She offers community service at the Temple, cooking free meals for hundreds of devotees visiting the Temple every week.

Sasmita has turned her passion for cooking into an enterprise by opening up a new Indian restaurant (SUSMITAS.UK) on the Lower Bristol Road. Her motto in life is : ‘One life, one opportunity in service of humanity.’
