Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s accomplished para shuttler Deep Ranjan Bisoyee bagged his first medal of the year — a silver — in men’s doubles SL3-SL4 event of the Spanish Para Badminton International (Level-II) tournament.
Bisoyee and Manoj Sarkar, his partner from Uttarakhand, had to be satisfied with silver after losing a hard-fought final against Korean pair Joo Dongjae and Shin Kyung Hwan.
Deep and Manoj won the first game before going down 21-14, 18-21, 16-21 at Vitoria, Spain.
It was Deep’s 13th international medal.
Deep and Manoj won both their Group A league matches to qualify for the semis, where they, defeated fellow-Indians Umesh Vikram Kumar and Surya Kant Yadav 21-14, 21-13.
Two other players fro Odisha participated in the meet. Subhrajeet Maharana reached quarterfinals of men’s SL4 singles and SL3-SL4 doubles events, while Gadela Dillaswar Rao also made the last-eight stage in men’s SL3 singles.
