Bhubaneswar: Police on Saturday booked several people for violating the 48-hour shutdown in several places in Odisha and placed many of them on compulsory quarantine for 14 days.

In Bhubaneswar, police detained 64 people for roaming outside during the shutdown period. Besides, 45 violators were placed on compulsory quarantine.

Bhubaneswar DCP Anup Sahoo said the violators were booked under IPC Sections 269, 270 and 271 for violating the Odisha COVID-19 Regulation, 2020.

Referring to the 48-hour shutdown order, the DCP said that apart from the main roads, people were also barred from moving in lanes and slum areas of the city.

In Bhadrak town, nine persons were placed on compulsory quarantine. “These violators will be booked for flouting the shutdown order,” Bhadrak Collector Gyana Ranjan Das said.
