Notably,  Bhubaneswar’s first case under the new criminal law was lodged at Laxmisagar police station. “After the three new laws came into force, the first case was registered at Laxmisagar police station under sections 126(2) (wrongful restraint), 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), 118 (voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt by dangerous weapons) and 109 (attempt to murder). All the other police stations have also started registering cases under the new laws,” DCP Prateek Singh told the media.

Laxmisagar police station IIC P Shyam Sundar Rao, registered the case (No. 370/24) and assigned the investigation to SI G Saha. “The accused has been threatening Gouranga for the past few days and attacked him with a blade on June 29. The complainant said the miscreants again threatened Gouranga on Monday, leading him to lodge an FIR. After receiving his complaint, a case has been registered against the accused under the new law,” he said.

Four police stations in the city registered at least one case each under BNS.
