Odisha Police To Verify Call Records Of Prisoners In Jails
Bhubaneswar: Taking note that some dreaded criminals are monitoring their crime network from the jails, the Odisha Police has decided to verify the call records of the prisoners.
Briefing the media here on Thursday, Director General (DG), Prisons, Satyajit Mohanty said that henceforth the police will record the call details of the prisoners in jails.
“As decided, each prisoner will be allowed to call from a maximum of three numbers. The prisoners will have to give details to the police about the person with whom he wants to talk. The prisoners will be allowed to talk within specified time limits. If the time limit exceeds, the phone will be switched off automatically,” Mohanty added.
He further said the new system will be put in place in the Choudwar Circle Jail in Cuttack district and the Jharpada Special Jail in Bhubaneswar in the first phase and the remaining jails in the state in subsequent phases.
