Bhubaneswar: In a significant move, the Odisha government has introduced new school dress code and identify card colour for the students of primary classes.
As per official sources, from Class 1 to 8, students will now sport identity cards of saffron colour featuring critical details like name, class, date of birth, roll number, and contact information.
The changed format will be applicable for the 2025-26 academic year. The move aims to enhance security and identification within school premises.
The Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA) issued a letter in this to all District Education Officers (DEOs).
As per the letter, the new ID cards will feature essential student information, including name, class, date of birth, roll number, and phone number. The cards will also bear the signature of the headmaster and teacher, adding an extra layer of authentication.
The decision to make ID cards mandatory comes in light of instances where outsiders enter school campuses unnoticed. Students will be required to wear the ID cards around their necks while on school premises.
This change is part of a broader effort to revamp school uniforms and branding. The state government has also introduced a new slogan, “Vidyavant Vidyarthi, Bikashit Odisha,” and updated the logo for house uniforms and caps.
Officials said the new ID cards and updated branding aim to promote a sense of identity and unity among students while enhancing school security.
