Odisha Rape Survivor Anjana Mishra Urges HC To Appoint Lawyer For Her
Bhubaneswar: Gang rape survivor Anjana Mishra has requested the Chief Justice of Orissa High Court to appoint a lawyer for her.
“My financial condition is not stable and I cannot hire a lawyer for myself. I appeal to the Orissa High Court to appoint a lawyer for me. I want justice,” Anjana wrote in a letter to the Chief Justice.
In her letter, she also mentioned that the High Court should direct the CBI to interrogate the case as the main accused, Biban Biswal, was arrested after 22 years.
“More investigation should be done on the conspiracy of mass rape,” she wrote, adding that influential persons involved in the matter should be exposed.
Notably, Anjana Mishra was gang-raped by Biban, Pradip Sahoo alias Padia and Dhirendra Mohanty alias Punia on January 9, 1999.
Padia and Punia were arrested on January 26, 1999.
However, Biban continued to elude police for 22 years and was finally caught on February 22 this year.
