Bhubaneswar: Almost entire Odisha reeled under heat wave with as many as 7 places recording day temperature of 42 degree Celsius or more on Thursday.
According to evening bulletin of the regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD), Baripada continued to be the hottest place in the state with maximum temperature of 43.5 degree Celsius.
The places which recorded 42 degree Celsius or more are Angul 42.5, Titlagarh 42.2, Sonepur 42.5 and Talcher, Bhawanipatna and Balangir 42 degree Celsius each.
Jharsuguda registered 41.8 degree Celsius, followed by Sambalpur with 41.6 degree, Cuttack 41.4, Chandbali 41.3 and Sundargarh, Bhadrak and Rourkela with 41 degree Celsius.
Similarly, capital Bhubaneswar sizzled with 40.8 degree Celsius, Hirakud 40.6, Paralakhemundi 40.6, Phulbani 40.3, Jajpur 40.2, Dhenkanal 40.5, Jagatsinghpur 40.5 and Nuapada and Balasore with 40 degree Celsius.
The IMD has issued yellow warning with forecast of heat wave for next 3 days. The heat wave condition is very likely to occur at one or two places in the districts of Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Balasore in next 24 hours, it stated.
