Bhubaneswar: The daily COVID caseload dropped below 600 on Sunday as 585 more people, including 96 children below 18 years of age, tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.
Notably, 16.41 per cent of the fresh infections reported from 27 districts in the state are children below the age of 18 years.
Odisha had registered 602 COVID cases on Saturday, 539 on Friday, 644 on Thursday, and 734 on Wednesday.
According to the I & PR department, 342 of the new cases are from quarantine and 243 are local contacts.
Khurda district reported the highest of 206 new infections, followed by Cuttack (67) and Balasore (38). Three districts reported nil cases.

Odisha now has 5,909 active cases.
With these cases being detected from 67,616 samples, the test positivity rate (TPR) is 0.86 per cent. The TPR was 0.83 per cent on Saturday, 0.78 per cent on Friday and 0.89 per cent on Thursday.
