Odisha Schools Shine In CBSE Class XII Exam

Bhubaneswar: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced Class XII results on Saturday and Bhubaneswar region has come through with flying colours this year.

With a pass percentage of 84.7 per cent, students from the eastern region (Odisha, West Bengal and Chhattisgarh) have fared better in comparison 73.95 per cent, the previous year.

Girls have outperformed the boys this year as well. As many as 87 per cent girls passed the examination against 81.2 per cent boys. Altogether, 51,221 of 61,199 students successfully passed the board examination.

According to sources, schools under Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) performed better than the private ones. The result sheet indicated 97 per cent of JNVs students, who appeared for the exam, cleared the papers. Around 97.3 per cent KVS students too, passed the tests.

However, 83.5% students from private institutions have been successful wherein, 47,545 had given the exam.

Rutu Kumar of KIIT International School has secured 99 per cent in commerce stream and Pranav Manie, a student of Sai International School, an aggregate of 98 per cent.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik sent his regards to all the students and congratulated them. “I wish them my best for their future pursuits,” he tweeted.

Around 12,737 students secured 95 per cent and above while 72,599 students got above 90 per cent, informed a CBSE official.
