Odisha Sees Slight Rise In New COVID Cases, Khurda Tops List

Bhubaneswar: Odisha saw a marginal rise in daily COVID cases on Saturday with 602 more people testing positive in the last 24 hours. The number of new infections reported a day earlier on Friday was 539.

Of the new cases, 79 (13.12%) are below 18 years of age.

According to the I & PR department, 353 of the new cases are from quarantine and 249 are local contacts.

Khurda district reported the highest of 266 new infections, followed by Cuttack (74) and Jagatsinghpur (34). Four districts reported nil cases.

Besides, 63 are from the state pool.

Notably, the daily cases count was 644 on Thursday, 734 on Wednesday and 462 on Tuesday.

Odisha now has 5,930 active cases.

With these cases being detected from 72,228 samples, the test positivity rate (TPR) is 0.83 %. The TPR was 0.78 per cent on Friday and 0.89 per cent on Thursday.
