Odisha Shivers As Mercury Continues To Dip; 3°C Below Normal In Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar: The night temperature in Odisha plummeted below 8°C as most parts of the state experienced a sharp drop in the mercury levels last night, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Sunday.
G Udayagiri recorded season’s lowest temperature of 7.8°C, followed by Phulbani and Daringbadi also in Kandhamal district at 11°C and 12°C respectively. Moderate fog also occurred at one or two places in this south interior district.
Other places, where the minimum temperature dropped below 15°C, include Similiguda in Koraput district (12,1°C), Rourkela (13.1°C), Jharsuguda (13.3°C), Chiplima in Sonepur district (13.8°C), Sundargarh and Bhadrak at 14°C each, Kierei also in Sundargarh district (14.3°C), Keonjhar (14.6°C) and Dhenkanal (14.9°C).
The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded below normal temperature for second consecutive day at 16 (-3) and 16.5 (-1.4) respectively.
The national forecaster has predicted further fall in the night temperature by 2-3°C at many places in the state during the next 3 days with no large change thereafter.
