Bhubaneswar: Attempts to sabotage the Odisha Police Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment examination were foiled due to coordinated monitoring and vigil, Director General of Police (DGP) Y B Khurania said on Thursday.

The recruitment process remained uncompromised as alleged irregularities were detected before the examination due to adequate precautionary measures adopted by the authorities, he told reporters on the sidelines of the 70th State Police Duty Meet in Cuttack.

Khurania said police could detect and halt the examination process well in time before anyone could secure a job through unfair means.

The SPs, Crime Branch, and Special Branches of all districts had been asked to maintain close vigil and ensure that the recruitment exam was conducted smoothly and fairly, the DGP said, adding that the offenders were caught before the exam because of adequate precautions.

Stating that the Crime Branch is now conducting the probe in an impartial manner, Khurania said all the accused involved in the job racket will be apprehended and integrity of the recruitment process will be restored.

As part of the probe, the Crime Branch sleuths are coordinating with technical experts to trace digital evidence, verify examination data, and track absconding candidates who tried to cheat through remote-access software and manipulated admit cards.

The probe agency is reported to be preparing a comprehensive chargesheet, which may include the names of candidates, brokers, and company personnel allegedly involved in tampering with the recruitment system.
